9

This is Ahreum & Yemima, 2 lovely Jehova’s Witnesses. When they rang the doorbell I thought they might have been some trick or treaters. I learned that they are Korean and they speak mandarin better than i do. They were very friendly and left some literature for me to read. Thanks Ahreum & Yemima!

malachy

This is Malachy, a professional yo-yoist I met outside of the Edison Diner in NJ. He’s been at it for 3 years now and had competed in the 2009 yo-yo championship in Florida. The black t-shirt he’s wearing is of Bruce Lee doing a yo yo trick.

I was impressed by his skills and his good natured personality. He was able to whip up this trick really fast to make this cool photo.

Malachy, you’re a cool dude.

Meet “Ringo” & “George”. I asked if they were old friends and Ringo replied “Well, we are old and we are also friends”.

Stranger 5/100

This is a picture of me and stranger #5, Tony (on the left). He mistook me for an old friend of his. It took about a minute for us to realize that we didn’t know each other. It was confusing because he knew my name and to me he seemed somewhat familiar. Apparently I looked like a friend of his back when he was in his 20s.

This here is Joey with a friend wrapped around him.  I met them on the streets of college-town USA.  They looked like they were having a good time so I joined in on the parade for about a block as we reveled in the glory that was Thursday.  Upon parting, they invited me to an afterparty that is to take place after Rutgersfest.  Maybe it’ll be a really good idea to go

1-100

This is stranger number 1 of a 100 of m y 100 strangers project. Yes, there are 3 people in this photo i know.. but for all intents and purposes they are one stranger.

I first met Loraine, the woman on the right outside of a local brewery. I learned that she was here in the states for a night after a flight from london, to then head back to london the next day fulfilling her obligations as an airline stewardess. Upon learning that she was from britland, i proceeded to try to impress her with my take on the english way of speaking… which consisted of interjecting everything with “oi” and saying something about “pints” and “football” because i’m an idiot.

After parting ways, i realized that she should be my first subject for the 100 strangers project so i hunted her down and met the other two that are in this photograph.

The man on the left wanted to be referred to in this project as “Riseldra”. Riseldra also worked with Loraine, and had the task of making sure the checked in baggage on the plane was evenly balanced so the aircraft would not tip over in mid-air resulting in doom. A noble task indeed.

The man in the middle with the Superman shirt on wanted to be referred to in this project as “dookie”. He also worked with “Riseldra” and Loraine. I didn’t quite get what it was that he did at the job. I spent some time trying to explain to him that i wasn’t “taking the piss” on being impressed at Riseldra’s occupation but i’m sure he was just fucking with me. I gathered he was the Captain of the plane.

So to Loraine, Dookie, and Riseldra – thank you for being the first in my 100 Strangers art project, you are all exceptional human beings. Godspeed, and happy travels.
